Automating bookkeeping for Danish webshops

Acting as an external finance department for a portfolio of webshops means the same reconciliation work, repeated per client, every month. Growing the client list without growing the headcount meant that work had to stop being manual.
The approach
An internal dashboard plus the integrations behind it, pulling transaction data from the webshops and payment providers and reconciling it automatically. The design principle throughout was that an integration must fail loudly: a bookkeeping system that silently drops a transaction is worse than one that stops and says so.
